A word from Richard

Hello again. On Saturday the force was strong with a New Hope, May the 4th was with you…

Apparently the 4th of May was also World Nude Gardening Day, believe it not. It was on Facebook so it must be true.

A couple of weeks ago I went fishing off the rocks with my good friend and our Service Technician Derek. We were up before the sun and on the groin early to secure best positioning, which we did. We cast out with a mulie and it wasn’t long before I hooked the first and only 3 Taylor which put up such a great fight on light lines. Then we changed rigs and burleyed up and hooked into a nice feed of Herring and even a few Mullett. So some delicious filleted fish were on the dinner plate that night and the rest went in the freezer.

I have been nice and cosy sitting watching Games of Thrones again and wow isn’t it an amazing series. They say that about 16 million people watched Game of Thrones just last week. That too is amazing.

Last night my partner Margaret and I went to the C.Y. O’Connor Village Pub for a well earned relaxing dinner. What an amazing place. I’ve never been there before. The food was just sooooooo nice and the service was fantastic too. I love getting good service as it really puts the final finishing touch on an lovely evening. Oh not to mention wonderful company. If you haven’t been there before, put it on your list of must do’s as it truly is sensational. Tip; do try the share plate and you too will be delighted I’m sure.

Here we are with another Election looming. I don’t know about you but I am sick of all the nasty back stabbing, mudslinging, vandalism and hatred being vocalised and can’t wait for it to all be over so we can get back to business as usual again.

How is business going for you by the way? We’re riding the wave and lucky to have been around long enough now to have a large data base of happy clients that we continue to look after on a regular basis. The front end for new business keeps coming but slow to steady as she goes but I don’t mind this. Time flies when you’re having fun and we go to Fun every day. We just love it and gratefully thank all of our wonderful clients for this. You are all V.I.P's.

Well let’s all enjoy fun times this May and remember to keep hydrated even if the days are getting cooler. You do know that "You Either Use a Water Filter or Your Body Is One" don’t you so call us now and have your drinking water cleaned up. We look forward to being of service to you.

Water found in samples from asteroid Itokawa

Arizona State University have made the first-ever measurements of water contained in samples from the surface of an asteroid.

The team's findings suggest that impacts early in Earth's history by similar asteroids could have delivered as much as half of our planet's ocean water.

"We found the samples we examined were enriched in water compared to the average for inner solar system objects," says Ziliang Jin. A postdoctoral scholar in ASU's School of Earth and Space Exploration, he is the lead author on the paper published May 1 in Science Advances reporting the results. His co-author is Maitrayee Bose, assistant professor in the School.

"It was a privilege that the Japanese space agency JAXA was willing to share five particles from Itokawa with a U.S. investigator," Bose says. "It also reflects well on our School."

The team's idea of looking for water in the Itokawa samples came as a surprise for the Hayabusa project.

"Until we proposed it, no one thought to look for water," says Bose. "I'm happy to report that our hunch paid off."

Water facts

Global warming.

Collecting water is expected to become increasingly burdensome with global warming. More regions will experience water shortages, as rainfall becomes erratic, glaciers melt and sea levels rise.

People living within 100 kilometres of a shoreline, one full third of the world’s population, will be hit especially hard. These are the persons most susceptible to increased salinity of coastal potable water sources.

As it takes more time to gather water and fuel, the available time for education or other economic and political activities decreases. The majority of children worldwide who do not attend school regularly are girls.

Health Tip

Alkaline water

"If someone was to ask me what is the one thing I can do to have better health, the answer would be very simply; start drinking alkaline water. Even if you are eating acidic foods, the most important thing is to start putting in those electron rich fluids so that you neutralize the acids from the foods that you are eating and help to maintain that alkaline design"

What's alkaline water? :- Alkaline means that the given solution (in this case water) has a pH of 7.1 or more.

What's the benefits of drinking alkaline water? :- Drinking water that is alkaline will help neutralize acid in the bloodstream, leading to increased oxygen levels as well as increased energy and metabolism.

Why is this good for your body to be Alkaline? If your body is in a very acidic state, it will seek balance, and may do so by drawing nutrients from the bones. When the body is in an alkaline state, you will be less prone to cellular damage and disease. - See more at: http://www.mensfitness.com/nutrition

What does it mean for your body to be alkaline? :- It means that the pH of your body is in a more alkaline rather than acidic state. The body is always trying to maintain equilibrium at a pH of 7.365, which is slightly alkaline.

What kinds of foods can you eat to help restore balance? :- Green juice, leafy greens, cucumber, lemons, melons, and chia seeds are some of the more alkaline-producing foods.

What kinds of foods should you avoid? Processed sugar, dairy, conventional meat, and coffee are some of the most acid-producing foods.

Warm lemon water each day is one good source to achieve this. At West Coast Water Filter Man we also have Alkaline filters to achieve Alkaline water.
