A word from Richard

Hello everyone.

Well here’s hoping all you Dad’s had a fabulously Happy Father’s Day. I sure did.

I had a wonderful Father’s Day. My son Sydney, now 18 and driving, drove myself and his sister, my daughter Leah out to a nice buffet breakfast. It was so nice to relax and chat about nothing just spending quality time and it’s all about Dad’s Yippee. What a magnificent day it was too after the buffet breakfast we had nice time weeding and playing in the veggie garden as well. Such a relaxing day.

Oh Oh I have been challenged by an 83 year old to compete in the upcoming Perth Festival of Running Half Marathon starting and finishing at Optus Stadium. How could I say no of course. Only this gentlemen is fit as a fiddle and has been running and competing in marathons since the age of eighteen so apparently I am going to get thumped. With only five weeks to the event on 7th October I guess I had better get training up for it. You only have to finish to receive the Limited Edition medallion he says…

Oh boy Spring is upon us at last and the days are noticeably lighter in the mornings now, so getting out of bed to be active is easier. I just love getting out for some exercise and smelling those fresh new day early morning smells. Only trouble is that it’s also hay fever season so I hope it doesn’t hit me too hard this year.

Wow I must be having too much fun… Time fly’s as I’m back in again today for my fortnightly Blood Plasma donation duty. I very much enjoy going in to relax and have my plasma extracted to save lives for those needing it. You just never know when you might need it.

So here goes again, have a Spring in your step this month and remember, "You either use a water filter or your body is one."

Air freshwater harvester.

Portable freshwater harvester could draw up to 10 gallons per hour from the air.

For thousands of years, people in the Middle East and South America have extracted water from the air to help sustain their populations. Drawing inspiration from those examples, researchers are now developing a lightweight, battery-powered freshwater harvester that could someday take as much as 10 gallons per hour from the air, even in arid locations.

They say their nanofiber-based method could help address modern water shortages due to climate change, industrial pollution, droughts and groundwater depletion. The researchers will present their results today at the 256th National Meeting and Exposition of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

"I was visiting China, which has a freshwater scarcity problem. There's investment in wastewater treatment, but I thought that effort alone was inadequate," Shing-Chung (Josh) Wong, Ph.D., says. Instead of relying on treated wastewater, Wong thought it might be more prudent to develop a new type of water harvester that could take advantage of the abundant water particles in the atmosphere.

Harvesting water from the air has a long history. Thousands of years ago, the Incas of the Andean region collected dew and channeled it into cisterns. More recently, some research groups have been developing massive mist and fog catchers in the Andean mountains and in Africa.

Water facts

Water consumption levels vary throughout Australia. Average daily water use ranges from as little as 100 litres per person in some coastal areas to more than 800 litres per person in the dry inland areas.

Australia is the highest user of water per person in the world, despite being the driest inhabited continent. Australia is the world's driest inhabited continent. 70% of our land is arid. Australia uses approximately 25,000 gigalitres of water per annum - which is equivalent to 50 Sydney Harbours.

Customer testimonial

Alicia Menkveld - Designer Life Technologies

The service we received from West Coast Water Filter Man was simply exceptional - super quick response times in terms of answering all my questions, quality products and the plumber who did the job was amazing! He arrived earlier than the appointment time, was super organized, friendly, quick and very helpful.

Best of all, he left the area super clean and told us we'll be contacted when the filters need to be replaced - too easy!

I believe Richard and his team is the only water filter supplier you need to contact, when you want to install your water filter.

Anton loves the water and our neighbours thought it tastes great too!

Me...I'm still adjusting to the filter watered taste and can clearly taste a difference between that and the bottled water, so I might just need more time to adjust.
