A word from Richard

Hello everyone.

Wow.........! Christmas has been and gone and soon it will be Easter. Time flies when you’re having so much fun.

We do hope you had a wonderful holiday, if at all, during Christmas and have slipped back into work mode again without too many distractions and hurdles to start the New Year.

Well there are no doubt there is lot of happy Mums and Dads now that kids are all back at school and even a few tears of joy as little ones venture off into life on their very first day at school. Crickey our kids sure are growing fast… Our son Sydney is turning 16 this April and has already purchased his first car, with his own funds. Smart kid scored a cracker of a deal on a 22 year old immaculate Toyota Celica and he is just so cool in it. Do you remember your first car? Mine was a yellow Mazda 323 Station Wagon. Loved that car.

Business just keeps getting better for us as The Big Boys keep buying out all our competitors. So many people just don’t like dealing with the International big guys and much prefer dealing with us as an Owner Operator where they all say service and prices are just so much better. So we can’t complain. New clients just keep coming and we are swimming fast to continue delivering our word. Loving it as my team are all very busy.

Recently we employed a nice older gentleman that retired from the industry but now wants a day or two a week, which is just perfect for us, and with three weeks in he has already become recognised as another asset to our Company. His name is Ray Smart and with a wealth of experience to help us grow and a pleasant manner, you’ll be happy to have him working on your water filter for sure.

So here’s Cheers Cheers to 2016 and may it be a great year ahead. Keep positive and don’t forget to keep hydrated; And remember: "You either use a water filter or your body is one!"

Toxins found in fracking fluids and wastewater

The research team evaluated available data on 1,021 chemicals used in fracking, a process that recovers oil and natural gas from deep within the ground by using a mixture of hydraulic-fracturing fluids that can contain hundreds of chemicals. The process creates significant amounts of wastewater and fractures the bedrock, posing a potential threat to both surface water and underground aquifers that supply drinking water, note the researchers.

While they lacked definitive information on the toxicity of the majority of the chemicals, the team members analyzed 240 substances and concluded that 157 of them -- chemicals such as arsenic, benzene, cadmium, lead, formaldehyde, chlorine, and mercury -- were associated with either developmental or reproductive toxicity. Of these, 67 chemicals were of particular concern because they had an existing federal health-based standard or guideline, said the scientists, adding that data on whether levels of chemicals exceeded the guidelines were too limited to assess.

"This evaluation is a first step to prioritize the vast array of potential environmental contaminants from hydraulic fracturing for future exposure and health studies," said Nicole Deziel, senior author and assistant professor of public health. "Quantification of the potential exposure to these chemicals, such as by monitoring drinking water in people's homes, is vital for understanding the public health impact of hydraulic fracturing."

Health Tip

Being dehydrated can sap your energy and make you feel tired.

Even mild dehydration of as little as 1 or 2 percent of your body weight.

If you're thirsty, you're already dehydrated and this can lead to fatigue, muscle weakness, dizziness and other symptoms.

Drink clean filtered water through out the day, about 200ml an hour should be sufficient.

A closing thought

“There is no joy without affliction”

We can never know how good something is without first experiencing something that was bad. We have to feel pain to understand how wonderful pleasure is. We have to go through unpleasant times to receive the benefits of joy. It’s universal law.
