You either use a water filter or your body is one

July 2012

A word from Richard

Wow how time flies! It's July already.

We have now had the shortest day of the year and as an early riser myself, I will surely enjoy the days with more sunlight.

Keep hydrated through these colder months, even a little as a 2% drop in hydration can trigger short-term memory loss, fatigue and other adverse symptoms. Remember, by the time you are thirsty you can be already dehydrated by half a litre or so.

Hope you all bought your water coolers and filter systems to make the most of tax deductions for last financial year!!!

Business continues to soar for the water filter man and we are enjoying the growth supporting more staff. We love it.

We are still looking for the right person to join the team and run the residential servicing side of the business so if anyone knows someone that could be that person, please contact us for further discussion.

I certainly hope you are all enjoying the pleasure of drinking and bathing in filtered water. The alternative just makes me cringe.

Until next time. Have a goodie. Stay hydrated and Cheers Cheers.

Ageing and drinking water

There may be contaminants in your drinking water that are causing you to show and feel your age more quickly than you'd like.

If you drink tap water, it is important to know what is in your water because it could contain a nasty stew of pollutants including chemicals, bacteria and heavy metals. Although most people automatically assume that city water is “safe” to drink, it is not always the case. Quite often, tap water across the country has been tested to contain higher levels of contaminants than their legal limits and drinking and bathing in polluted water can cause severe illness and health problems. This wear and tear on the body will have a direct effect on your energy and appearance and perhaps even your longevity.

The good thing is, tap water may contain very little to no levels of these contaminants most of the time. Unfortunately, no one ever knows when these contaminants may show up and at what levels. Even if the levels are extremely low, longterm exposure to many pollutants may still lead to moderate to serious health concerns that will affect your overall appearance and wellness. These health complications can be prevented by simply using a filtration system to purify your drinking water.

Not only is drinking purified water better for your skin and helps to prevent ageing symptoms, it could also help you to reduce the risk of having major health issues and protect your family from harmful contaminants. Finding the right purifying system that can rid your water of all of these contaminants and many more will help to ensure the health of you and your family as well as the condition of your skin.

Alternatively, you may drink bottled water, which should have better quality than tap water and in some cases not. However, home filtration systems that can remove over 90% of harmful chemicals have proved to be more cost effective over time. When you think about how many bottles of water you go through a year, a filtration system will not only provide safe drinking water at your convenience, but will also help save the planet from wasting all those plastic water bottles.

Richard's Health Tip

How do you know if you are hydrated?

Despite common misconception, thirst is actually an imperfect measure of how well hydrated you are. By the time you are thirsty you can be already dehydrated by half a litre or so. Therefore, thirst can not be relied upon to monitor hydration status.

A better way to keep check on your level of hydration is monitoring urine output. The motto here is, "Don't go for gold!" When fully hydrated your urine should be clear and odourless.
